At this time of year, you will probably find yourself ordering your ham or turkey and planning salads for the big day. But if you’re looking for something different to wow your guests, or you are trying to get the kids to eat something that’s not a candy cane, check out these fun festive food ideas!
You may be surprised by how simple many of them are.
KIWIFRUIT CHRISTMAS TREE
- - Slice kiwifruit into rounds
- - Place the kiwifruit on a board in the shape of a Christmas tree
- - Place pomegranate seeds on each slice of kiwifruit
- - Place cinnamon sticks or chocolate fingers for the base

RUDOLPH BURGERS
- Make burgers your way
- Break pretzels and poke two into each burger as antlers
- Slice radishes and olives, attach them to a toothpick and poke two into each burger as eyes
- Use a small cherry tomato on the end of a toothpick for the nose

|
FROSTY HOT CHOCOLATE
- Make a hot chocolate and allow to cool slightly
- Thread two marshmallows onto a toothpick
- Using straight pretzels, snap them to size and poke into the two marshmallows for arms and legs
- Place the two marshmallows carefully onto the hot chocolate
- Place the third marshmallow for the head
- Use chocolate sprinkles or chocolate chips for the buttons and eyes
- Use an orange jelly bean or similar for the nose

STRAWBERRY SANTAS
- Cut the end off a large, ripe strawberry
- Make sure the large part of the strawberry is flat to stand on a board or plate
- Place whipped cream on top of the standing strawberry for the beard
- Place the smaller part of the strawberry on the cream as the hat
- Place a small amount of cream on top of the hat
- Use chocolate chips to make the eyes

REINDEER PANCAKES
- Make pancakes your way
- Place on a plate and use pretzels or strands of orange zest as antlers
- Place white chocolate buttons and chocolate chips as eyes, nose and mouth

WATERMELON CHRISTMAS TREE
- Cut watermelon into segments
- Insert a skewer into the base
|

CHRISTMAS TREE PLATTER
- Simply place all of your favourite nibbles onto a large wooden board in the shape of a Christmas tree.
- Use the picture for inspiration!

MELTED SNOWMEN
- Use store-bought plain biscuits for the base, or make your own
- Spread white icing on the biscuit
- Use an icing pen to draw faces on a marshmallow and place on the icing
- Decorate with lollies, cut up berries, pomegranate seeds or sprinkles

PUFFED PASTRY CHRISTMAS TREE
- Use store-bought basil pesto or make your own
- Spread pesto onto store-bought rolled pastry sheets
- Cut and roll pastry into fingers
- Place on an oven tray in the shape of a Christmas tree
- Brush with olive oil or melted butter
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and sesame seeds
- Bake in the oven as per packet directions
- Serve on a wooden board with your favourite dips

FESTIVE CROUTON SALAD
- Making a salad look Christmassy can be as simple as placing a star on top!
- Make your favourite salad
- Toast bread
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out a star shape and place on top of the salad. The more, the merrier!
