During these times of financial uncertainty, we want to help our Members build their financial resilience more than ever.
The Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy has many people feeling worried about their financial position, especially because so much has changed so quickly. At a time like this, taking time to review your finances and ensure you are building financial resilience is fundamentally important to ensure you have financial security and peace of mind in the future.
No one knows when and where the next financial shock will come from. As we all know now, major events such as we have just experienced from Covid-19, illness or injury, redundancy or a significant change in your circumstances can happen any time.
This has led to an explosion in questions about money and a demand for trusted practical financial guidance. This is an area that we feel we can contribute very strongly in, after all education, solidarity and looking after our members wellbeing are all key values that we stand for.
So, we are launching a major new initiative called “Good to Know”
‘’Good to know’’ is a new service we hope will help our Members tackle the major issue of improving their financial resilience by providing an online resource centre filled with trusted information from experts, self-support educational guides, practical tools, events and training that will also compliment the additional new services we plan on launching throughout the year to help our Members become more financially empowered.
Being financially resilient
According to the Commission for Financial Capability, financial resilience means people can ‘weather life’s storms’, or unexpected financial hits, without falling into damaging debt and they recommend three key areas in which New Zealanders can build their financial resilience:
- A savings buffer
- Wills and enduring powers of attorney
Making insurance easy to understand
Initially we are tapping into the expertise of our HealthCarePlus Representatives to develop a series of guides and webinars on Insurance. Our Aim is to make insurance easy to understand so making it easier to make the right decisions when it comes to protecting what’s important.
Insurance in all its forms can be confusing and stressful with all the insurance lingo and long application forms. So, we will take the confusion out of getting protected and stop making buying insurance so hard. To watch for the webinar recording, please click on the CTA below.
‘Good to Know’ will cover other topics too like budgeting, creating a savings buffer, debt management planning for retirement and making wills. Ultimately we want to create a safe, inclusive environment for our Members to learn and to reach out with the money questions they’ve been afraid to ask.
